Karl Marx on Gun Control

Karl Marx on Gun Control

This quote is from the Address of the Central Committee to the Communist League by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels in 1850. This came at a time when major anti-capitalist revolt had just taken place, but also when Marx saw the worker’s movement being co-opted by “petty-bourgeois democrats.” Joseph Moll had just been killed in the Revolution of 1848, one of the largest revolutionary conflicts in European history to date; the end to Austrian serfdom, as well as the end of the Danish and French Capetian monarchy, were both facilitated by the Revolution of 1848. Marx believed that a combination of worker inexperience (both in the context of organization and armed defense) and the influence of the German petty bourgeois were leading a true proletarian movement away from self-realization through an alliance with traditional authoritarian state powers.

Marx also believed that a revolution “will not take this peaceful course,” being sparked by the hands of workers or by counter-revolutionary feudalist violence. As such, an armed proletarian population, equipped and able to fight, was essential for the future worker’s movement. And, by and large, Marx called it all the way up through the 1940’s. The suppression of the Paris Commune, the suppression of syndicalists and minority Marxist, socialist and communist parties in the Spanish Revolution, all the way to the rise of fascism (and the collusion of state socialists) with Franco, Mussolini and Adolf Hitler: all validated Marx’s predictions on worker movements being co-opted by conventional statist interests.

In context:

To be able forcefully and threateningly to oppose this party, whose betrayal of the workers will begin with the very first hour of victory, the workers must be armed and organized. The whole proletariat must be armed at once with muskets, rifles, cannon and ammunition, and the revival of the old-style citizens’ militia, directed against the workers, must be opposed. Where the formation of this militia cannot be prevented, the workers must try to organize themselves independently as a proletarian guard, with elected leaders and with their own elected general staff; they must try to place themselves not under the orders of the state authority but of the revolutionary local councils set up by the workers. Where the workers are employed by the state, they must arm and organize themselves into special corps with elected leaders, or as a part of the proletarian guard. Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary. The destruction of the bourgeois democrats’ influence over the workers, and the enforcement of conditions which will compromise the rule of bourgeois democracy, which is for the moment inevitable, and make it as difficult as possible – these are the main points which the proletariat and therefore the League must keep in mind during and after the approaching uprising.

The Address of the Central Committee to the Communist League was not in response to monarchists, feudalists, or proto-fascists. Rather, it was in response to the threat from a democratic party in Germany that initially allied with Marx and the Communist League in the Revolution of 1848. Marx described his relationship with what he called the “petty bourgeois democratic party” so:

The relationship of the revolutionary workers’ party to the petty-bourgeois democrats is this: it cooperates with them against the party which they aim to overthrow; it opposes them wherever they wish to secure their own position.

Just food for thought, particularly for European social democrats — the spiritual descendants of Marx’s “petty bourgeois democratic party” — as well as gun control “liberals” in the United States. And regardless of the many varied opinions on Marx, communism, capitalism, etc. there is a message here that can be applied to revolutionaries of all stripe: beware of alliances with statist authoritarians and political moderates.

  1. Amen. Only in the ridiculous political discourse of the United States, where Barack Obama is a “marxist” (or any kind of “leftist” at all), can gun ownership by the people be considered a purely right-wing demand. The notion that an armed populace should have a measure of power of resistance to the heavily armed power of the (capitalist!) state is, if anything, a populist principle, and has always been part of the revolutionary democratic traditions of the left. 1. +The Polemicist People call Obama a leftist because he was endorsed by several leaders of the Communist Party USA and he was the most progressive president besides FDR in history that I can think of.

Even though you respect gun rights, I have never met a leftist who supports gun rights before, and they tend to use rhetoric and anger to promote gun control without empirical support or theoretical support. No leftist wants gun rights because leftists are too feminine to know better. Even Noam Chomsky, an anarchist, claimed that people’s gun rights were irrelevant because the anti-capitalist cause is more important.

      1. The one thing Marx got right:

“That rifle on the wall of the labourer’s cottage or working class flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there.”
        ― George Orwell

Being Swiss, I can only agree! We are the only truly democratic country on the planet, as we get to decide issues, not just elect politicians.

That said, Marx was an imbecile who didn’t understand the first thing about economics and sociology, his vision of history was completely false, he lied all the time to cover up his obvious failures, he despised workers and peasants, thought they were stupid, was openly racist and antisemitic – yes, although he was ethnically Jewish, he expressed enormous hatred against Jews and Judaism, most obvious in his correspondence with Engels – he raped his housekeeper, sent the resulting boy to an orphanage, abused his wife and children and his utopia of a communist paradise was basically that of a useless aristocrat dabbling in hobbies to while his time away – which is what he aspired to.

He really thought that industrialization had “solved the production problem”. He didn’t get the dynamic nature of reality and the fact that what works at a given time will be useless a bit later and human activity has to be organized, but never centralized and that failure and inequality are inevitable in a dynamic system. The attempt to create “equality” (or “equity”, as modern Marxists say) leads to total oppression and genocide, not by accident, but by necessity.

The effort to disarm the people – a coordinated, worldwide effort – is just a preparation for the unlimited powers of a future world government. Or maybe a 1984-like division into 3 powers that are always at war with each other, with changing alliances. Reality is way too close to this model. 1984 was one of the reasons why I always opposed large power blocks, especially the EU, the USSR, NAFTA etc. Keep countries small and under direct control of the people. Always keep lots of avenues of escape when a system becomes tyrannical.

In a weird twist, the political left, their media, their organizations, are controlled by billionaires who openly promote Marxism.

Slate & MSNBC were created by Bill Gates. The Washington Post is owned by Jeff Bezos. The Atlantic is owned by Steve Jobs’ widow. Soros finances numerous communist web sites, e.g. MoveOn, Progressive etc.

Google, Twitter, Facebook are controlled by ultra-rich billionaires, including Saudis and foreign governments. They foster a Marxist culture and suppress any views that do not conform with the Great Reset agenda. The Project Veritas undercover videos showing Twitter employees saying that they are all “Marxist as f*k” was very telling.

One of the co-founders of BLM, Patrisse Cullors, said in an interview that they were “trained Marxists”. No one asked who had “trained” them.

Go to the WEF web site – they promote Marxism, including CRT, feminism, transgenderism & AGW etc. They signed a partnership agreement with the UN in 2019 to help the UN implement the Agenda 2030 that gives them wide ranging powers to act on “climate” and healthcare policies – merely months before the outbreak of the COVID pandemic.

Not even 4 months after the official WHO pandemic announcement, the WEF published “COVID-19: The Great Reset”, ready to ship from Amazon warehouses. And no one asked how they managed to write, publish, print and deliver a 280 page book that fast? I have questions…

Klaus Schwab has a Lenin statue in his living room, visible during his Arte interview. He partnered with the openly Marxist Club of Rome since the 1970s but kept their alliance hidden. They are also allied with Soros’ Open Society – again, from the WEF web site. Again, why didn’t anyone ask why the WEF launched Greta?

Other billionaire organizations that support the WEF Great Reset: the Rockefeller foundation (the lockdowns were based on the Rockefeller “Lockstep scenario” in “Scenarios for the Future of Technology” published in 2011), the Tides Foundation, CFR and their European subsidiary ECFR (co-founded by Open Society based on their own web site again).

Antifa and BLM riot … for Big Pharma and Big Tech. And destroy mostly poor, black neighborhoods. Billionaires buy up the destroyed real-estate for peanuts. The police defunding leads to 1400 more homicides against blacks and Hispanics over 1 years. All the money donated to BLM disappears in a bunch of luxury villas.

Maybe Marx did get one more point right: he warned that the “Lumpenproletariat” would sell out to the “Bourgeoisie”. That’s totally Antifa and BLM.

Wall Street, Big Tech and the military-industrial complex support the Democrats and hate Trump, who failed to launch a single new war and instead signed 5 peace treaties they didn’t want. They spread ridiculous lies about a Trump-Russia collusion in preparation of a proxy war against Russia, which they clearly had been preparing for decades. And the Republican establishment fully participates. That’s why they, too, wanted to get rid of Trump.

Read 1984 again – especially the bits about how wars and terrorism are used to control the people.

The Maydan coup in Ukraine was organized by Soros, whose Open Society was present in Ukraine since 1990 (cf. their own web page) and he even bragged about his influence on the Orange Revolution on CNN. He spent $30 billion over 30 years to help in the creation of a global government.

Trudeau, Ardern, Macron and many more are WEF Young Global Leaders. Ardern just spoke at Harvard about how they had to disarm the people. KJB was just behind her and applauded this effort. She’s quite the Marxist.

Look up the Wall Street Journal article “Billionaires Try to Shrink World’s Population, Report Says” from 2009: “The New York meeting of billionaires Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, David Rockefeller, Eli Broad, George Soros, Ted Turner, Oprah, Michael Bloomberg and others was described by the Chronicle of Philanthropyas an informal gathering aimed at encouraging philanthropy. Just a few billionaires getting together for drinks and dinner and a friendly chat about how to promote charitable giving.”

That last sentence in the opening paragraph …

They all promote the UN Agenda 2030. What would that really look like? They want to reduce the global population by about 90%, they want to put everyone into Mega Cities a bit like in Judge Dredd. They want us to eat bugs & fake meat and drink sewage while abolishing single family homes. Not kidding! There’s an article from The Conversation with the title: “How to get people to eat bugs and drink sewage”, 2019. Bill Gates invested in an artificial meat company.

Jean-Jacques Cousteau in a UNESCO interview from November 1991: “It’s terrible to have to say this. World population must be stabilized and to do that we must eliminate 350,000 people per day. This is so horrible to contemplate that we shouldn’t even say it. but the general situation in which we are involved is lamentable.”

Go to Our World in Data and look up:
        – Change in Cereal production (it increased much faster than the population growth, more food from less land; also based on data on this site, famines have been almost eradicated)

        – Natural disasters (climate events such as flooding and droughts caused an average of 500’000 deaths per year from 1920 to 1940, but only 50’000 per year from 2000 to 2020)

        – the global temperature was much higher than today during the Medieval Warm Period (1200+ studies confirm this), the little ice age was devastating, with lots of plagues, famines and animal extinctions; the world has been warming since 1750. Strong warming from 1895 to 1940, then strong cooling until 1978 leading to massive fearmongering about the “coming new ice age”; then strong warming until 1999; the global temperature is almost flat since 2000, lots of studies about “missing heat”

        – as physicist, I know that CO2 does not have the slightest influence on the global temperature; there’s never been so much as a correlation between CO2 and global temperature as documented by the study: “The Relationship between Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Concentration and Global Temperature for the Last 425 Million Years”

        – when they show you lab experiments that seem to show warming by adding CO2 to a container, they just increase the pressure; you get the same warming by adding absolutely any gas, including the noble gas Argon, cf. experiments published by Tuft and ETHZ

There is no “climate” or “food” emergency! It’s all fabricated. The disruption of the supply chain was intentional.

Anyone who thinks that these people have our well-being or the well-being of the planet at heart is delusional.

DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR GUNS!!!
